IAN'S CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
1973 - First entered country music by winning 4 sections of the CCMA talent quest at the Tamworth festival then signed a 3 year recording contract with CM records.

1973 - Formed the “Ramblin’ Country Band”. They performed for 7 years every Sunday from 1983-1990 at the Central Coast Leagues Club, Gosford.
​
1975 - Won a National Search for a Songwriter Contest, the prize being a trip to Nashville, USA.
​
Wrote the “Wedding Song” which has been recorded in several countries and has been twice to the top of the Hit Parade in Ireland, and featured in the movie “Blown Away” staring Tommy-Lee Jones and Jeff Bridges.
​
1981 and 1984 - Won two New Zealand Gold Guitar Songwriting Awards in Gore.
​
1993 - Toured Australia with “Tamworth On Parade”, visiting every state over an 11 week period.
​
1995 - Several TV appearances and host of “Its Country Today Live” Tamworth.
​
1981 - Elected Central Coast Ambassador and represented the Coast on a promotional tour of New Zealand.
​
1993- Inducted into the Country Music Hands of Fame.
​
1994 - Received “The Sydney Opera House Country Music Award”.
​
1996 - Spent 10 weeks in Europe which included a 3 week tour of Ireland and Scotland plus appearances in Belgium, Holland and the “MS Triton” in the Greek Islands.
​
1997 - Visited the USA for 9 weeks singing in concerts and festivals in Denver (Colorado), Meridian (Mississippi), Branson (Missouri) and Nashville (Tennessee).
​
1998 - He returned to Europe for 5 weeks and was special guest artist at the Garden City Country Music Festival in Christchurch (N.Z.) in October 1998.
​
The CD “Lonestar” has been supported and promoted by Australia’s newest restraint chain “Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon” with the composition “Lone Star Dance” being adopted as a theme song used in advertising and backing music in the restraints and for special promotions.
​
Performed at festivals in Tamworth, Wandong, West Wyalong, Lismore, Tummburrumba, Port Pierie, Lockhart, Yarramalong, Warnervale, The Entrance, Boyup Brook, Gore (N. Z.), Nelson (N.Z.), Tauranga (N.Z.), Christchurch (N.Z.), Mildura, Campbelltown (Tas), Charters Towers, Mt Isa and the Sydney Opera House. Performed on the cruiseliner “S. S. Fairstar”.

Written over 70 songs which have been recorded by over 60 artists worldwide.
​
For 10 years coordinated and compered Telstra Country Connections Concerts in Peel Street during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
​
Newspaper columnist- “Central Coast Entertainer” (10 years), regional reporter and feature writer and reviewer for “Capital News” and “Total Country” magazines.
​
Hosted weekly country music program “Heroes and Friends” on 2CCC-FM.
